How (and why) to Embrace Your Spirituality

Getting in touch with your spirituality will have a positive impact on nearly every aspect of your life. People who are “spiritual” tend to live happier, longer lives. But, how exactly do you embrace your spirituality?

Some people assume that meditation requires extensive training to perform correctly, but this couldn’t be further from the truth. As long as you have access to a quiet, peaceful area, you can meditate. Just sit down, close your eyes, and make slow, deep breaths while blocking out any and all distractions. Continue doing for 15-20 minutes per day and you’ll naturally become a more spiritual person.

In addition to its ability to lower stress levels, meditation is also believed to improve cognitive function. A recent study conducted by researchers at the Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH) found that people who meditate on a regular basis have higher levels of grey matter within the hippo campus of the brain, an area that’s closely linked to memory, learning, self-awareness, and compassion.

Paint The Walls

How can painting the walls help you embrace your spirituality? The area in which you live will influence your thoughts and feelings on a subconscious level. If you move into a new home and leave the walls white, the “blank palette” look will promote low energy and fatigue. On the other hand, painting the walls a warm, energetic color will have the opposite effect. So if you’re looking for an excuse to paint your home, now you have it. Painting the walls can help you tune in your spirituality while having a positive impact on your home’s atmosphere in the process.

We can’t talk about ways to embrace one’s spirituality without mentioning Tarot card readings. Whether you are a man, woman, young or old, a Tarot card reading will create greater transparency by revealing your true self. You may gain a new understanding of your life and its purpose through a Tarot card reading, discover new techniques to tackle common everyday hurdles in life, find harmony, or uncover problem areas that require work.

Keep a Journal

Keeping a daily journal will allow you to remember new things that you’ve learned about yourself. When you begin to embrace spirituality, you’ll discover things about yourself that you didn’t previously know. By writing them down in a journal, these thoughts will remain with you forever, at which point you can build on them to better improve your life. You don’t have to necessarily write a full essay for each day, but you should write down a couple paragraphs at minimum, covering your thoughts and feelings for the day. At the end of the month, go back and read your journal to gain a new perspective on your life.
