Most of us routinely clean our homes, cars, rooms, office spaces, and even our bodies. How often do we cleanse our spirit? We all know we should take better care of ourselves, so here are a couple easy ways you can incorporate cleansing your spirit.

Take a Saltwater Bath

Often referred to as “The Tears of God,” salt plays a key role in spiritual health and cleansing. It’s able to expunge negative energy, giving our body and mind a fresh start so to speak. If you are looking to hit the reset button by flushing negative energy from your spirit, consider taking a hot saltwater bath.

Fill the tub up with warm-to-hot water according to your liking, toss in 2 cups of all-natural sea salt, and soak inside for at least half an hour. During this time, try to visualize the problems affecting your spirit and picture them going away. Whether you are experiencing relationship problems, poor health, financial instability, etc., focus your thoughts on releasing the negative aspects of your life while taking a saltwater bath. Picture the troubles going down the drain as you drain the tub. When you get out, avoid using a towel and instead allow your body to air dry. Doing so will create a protective layer of salt over your skin, protecting you from negative energy.

Incorporate Feng Shui Into Your Home

How can Feng Shui be used to cleanse your spirit? Feng Shui is an ancient Chinese philosophical system that’s based on the principle of harmonizing one’s environment. When your environment becomes cluttered, it promotes negative energy — negative energy which enters your body and spirit. Therefore, you should work to harmonize your home and surrounding environment with Feng Shui. This may include rearranging the furniture, painting the walls, removing unnecessary clutter, etc.

Sage Smudging

A third ritual that is commonly performed the purpose of cleaning one’s spirit is sage smudging. This process involves the use of bundled sage herb that are bound together with string. Once lit, the sage will burn to release cleansing fragrances and chemicals into the environment. People have been using smudge sticks for centuries, with some of the earliest known reports dating back to the Native Americans.

To cleanse your spirit with a smudge stick, first make sure it is filled with fresh, genuine sage. Smudge sticks can be used with a variety of different herbs, although sage has been proven to yield the greatest benefit in terms of cleansing. Next, have a friend or family member burn the smudge stick while you lie down, running the stick over your body, back and forth. During this process, take slow, deep breaths to really draw in the sage.
